First Contact Clinical Christmas donation

Here at First Contact Clinical rather than handing out Christmas Cards to each other we prefer to make a donation to a local charity.  Last year we collected money for the Charlie Cookson Foundation and also donated items to the Women' Refuge which was a great success.

We ask all members of staff if they would like to put forward a charity to receive the donation. We then ask staff to vote on the suggested charities and the one with the most votes will receive the donation.

This year the chosen charity was Cruse Crew. Cruse Crew are a new charity trying to raise £30,000 to support bereaved children in South Tyneside. The charity has been set up by a number of parents/partners who have experienced loss and had difficulty accessing bereavement support for children involved.

Sharon Gunn, Senior Recovery Worker at First Contact Clinical, made the suggestion of Cruse Crew- “I chose Cruse Crew because one of the people who set it up was the partner of a friend of mine who sadly died leaving 2 children behind. He recognised that South Tyneside lacks bereavement support for young people. I think that CRUSE crew are just amazing individuals who have put their own grief aside to address the needs of others”.

We raised over £100 for Cruse Crew and in addition to this cash donation we also collected food, toiletries and pet food for the New Hope Church who run the local food bank in South Shields.
